I need to add a menu link, not related to any of TB Page regions. An external link, for example.
Is there a way to this?

Yes, there is a way. However, you have to modify our PHP code. The code for generating the menu is located at sites/all/themes/tb_page/template.php, function tb_page_preprocess_page
